Too Early to Call Samigue Eman a Bust

It is always sad to see a once promising basketball player turn out to be a bust in the professional leagues. By now, many Philippine basketball followers are already referring to Samigue Eman as one such individual. Eman's stint at Magnolia and San Miguel may have proven to be abortive of his development as a basketball player in his prime.

While his Philippine Basketball League averages were not superb, they were decent at best: 5.33 points, 5.89 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks in 17 minutes of action. His best PBA season so far was 2010-2011 with the Alaska Aces with averages of 3.31 points, 3.77 rebounds, and 0.85 blocked shots in 12.13 minutes of play, so far the longest minutes per game average he enjoyed since joining the Philippine Basketball Association. Thus far with Alaska, Eman is somehow seeing a resurgence of his PBA basketball career and has definitely upped his numbers from his stint with the San Miguel franchise in his last 2 seasons with them. Of course, he has to work harder to earn more minutes and get more involved in the team's player rotation. I'd like to believe he is still in his prime at 30 and have a few good years left to make an impact in the PBA. Who knows maybe someday, he may even have a chance to win the PBA Most Improved Player Award.
