If Only The Fil-foreigners Can Play as Natural-Born Filipinos for Gilas

The FIBA eligibility rules state that for players born outside the country they wish to represent, they must satisfy two requirements: 1)either parent must still be a citizen of the country they wish to represent at the time of their birth, and 2)must have obtained the passport of the country they wish to represent before they reach the age of 16.

Filipinos are known to populate various corners of the world and we can almost always find Filipinos of mixed descent in any continent. However not all of these mixed blood Filipinos can represent the Philippine basketball in official FIBA competitions since they do not always satisfy the eligibility rules of FIBA.

PBA Season 40 Validates Player Development Effect of Gilas

Inclusion in the Gilas program has a very solid impact on player development. If it were any indication, statistics for the 40th season of the Philippine Basketball Association validates this.

Worst Case Scenario for Gilas 3.0 Pool

It seems like the release of the 26-man pool for Gilas 3.0 submitted by national team coach Tab Baldwin is taking forever. Speculations are ripe that several PBA teams are reluctant in loaning their players to the national cause. If this is true, then maybe we can take a look at a worst case scenario wherein only the MVP-controlled teams(Meralco, NLEX, Talk N'Text) will be loaning players to the national pool. I will only be considering those who did quite well in the 40th season of the Philippine Basketball Association as well as the former members of the pool during coach Chot Reyes' time as head coach. I will also be considering that Andray Blatche may not make himself available for the team.
